Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
Wag Tags Connect is operated by Austin Blythe, an individual, not a company. This policy covers the Wag Tags Connect apps and the website at wagtagsconnect.com. The iOS app is first. The same practices apply to the Android app when it is available.
Questions, deletion requests, and anything else: hello@wagtagsconnect.com.
What we collect
Account. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You can sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or an email code. Authentication is provided by Clerk. If you use Google or Apple, they share the name and email you authorize. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your personal one. Clerk sends the email code and stores the account and session details needed to keep you signed in, which can include your IP address and device information.
Dog profiles. For each dog we store the name, breed, age, a profile photo, and the tag linked to that dog, along with which account the dog belongs to. This is stored with Convex.
Photos you send. A handler can take a photo of a dog and send it to that dog's owner. We store those photos so the owner's app can show them, and we delete them within 3 days. Wag Tags Connect is not a photo library. If an owner wants to keep a photo, they save it on their own device. The dog's profile photo is separate from those day photos. It stays with the profile until the profile or the account is deleted.
Notifications. We use Expo to send push notifications, for example when a photo arrives. Expo receives the device push token and the content of the notification. A notification may include the dog's name and a notice that a photo is available. It does not include the photo itself.
Website contact form. If you write to us on this site, we collect your name, day care name, email address, an optional estimate of dogs per day, and your message. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the form for spam. The message is emailed to us through Cloudflare. It is not added to the app database.
Technical data. Cloudflare, Clerk, Convex, and Expo process technical data needed to run and protect the service, such as IP address, device or browser type, and timestamps. We do not add a separate advertising or analytics SDK.
How we use it
- To provide the service: identify a dog from a tag, deliver a photo to the owner's app, and send a notification.
- To create and secure accounts.
- To reply to messages sent through the website.
- To keep the service reliable and secure.
We do not sell personal information. We do not show ads. We do not share data for advertising or for tracking you across other companies' apps.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run Wag Tags Connect. They process data only to provide their service to us, and we require them to protect it in line with this policy.
- Clerk — accounts and sign-in.
- Convex — database and file storage for profiles and photos.
- Expo — push notifications. If the app later uses Expo's update service, Expo may also receive a device operating system and a randomized update token. We will update this policy before that happens.
- Cloudflare — website hosting, the spam check on the contact form, and email delivery.
- Apple and Google — only if you choose their sign-in, and only the name and email you authorize them to share.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the service and the people who use it.
How long we keep it
- Photos sent to an owner: deleted within 3 days.
- Profile photo and dog profile: until you delete the profile or the account.
- Account information, including name, email, and sign-in details: until you delete the account.
- Push token: until you sign out, turn off notifications, or delete the account.
- Contact form messages: in email, until we no longer need them to respond, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
- Security logs: for a limited time, as those providers retain operational logs.
Deletion and your choices
You can delete your account in the app. That deletes your Clerk account and the dog profiles and photos we store in Convex. You can also email hello@wagtagsconnect.com and ask us to delete your account, a dog profile, or a specific piece of information. We will delete it unless we have to keep something to meet a legal obligation.
You can turn off push notifications in your device settings. You do not have to use the website form. You can email us instead.
Revoking a sign-in with Apple or Google in that company's settings stops future sign-ins through them. It does not by itself delete data we already store. Use in-app deletion or email us for that.
Children
Wag Tags Connect is for day care staff and dog owners. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email hello@wagtagsconnect.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections and rely on our providers' access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Where data is processed
Clerk, Convex, Expo, and Cloudflare may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. The current version is always at https://wagtagsconnect.com/privacy. If you use the app, that same address is where the in-app privacy link points.
